What is an ESTA?

An ESTA is an automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program.

How long is an approved ESTA valid?

Once approved, your ESTA is generally valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. It allows for multiple entries.

When should I apply for my ESTA?

The US government recommends applying at least 72 hours before boarding your flight. However, we process urgent applications immediately.

Do children or infants need their own ESTA?

Yes, all travelers require their own individual ESTA, regardless of age. This includes infants traveling in an adult’s lap. Each traveler must possess their own valid biometric passport to qualify.

Are there any exceptions to the Cuba ESTA restriction?

Exceptions are extremely narrow and limited primarily to full-time government employees or military personnel traveling to Cuba on official government business for a Visa Waiver country. Ordinary tourism, business travel, or family visits do not qualify for an exception.

What happens if my ESTA application is denied?

If the government denies your application, you cannot travel under the Visa Waiver Program. You must apply for a standard B-1/B-2 visitor visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Can dual nationals of Cuba and a Visa Waiver country use an ESTA?

No, if you hold dual citizenship with both Cuba and a Visa Waiver Program country (such as Spain or France), you are completely ineligible to use an ESTA. You must schedule an interview to apply for a regular U.S. visa.

Can I apply for an ESTA if I have recently traveled to Cuba?

No, you cannot use an ESTA if you have visited Cuba on or after January 12, 2021. The United States designated Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism on this date. Under U.S. law, any presence in Cuba since that milestone makes you ineligible for the Visa Waiver Program. You must apply for a standard B-1/B-2 visitor visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate instead.
